Gator Garage Frontend Lead

Software Engineering Spring '24

Gator Garage is a web application designed to create a platform for students, faculty, or anyone with an .sfsu email to buy and sell items within the SFSU community. The application was built using Bootstrap, EJS, Node.js, Express, and MySQL.

As the Frontend Lead of this project, my responsibilities included selecting the front-end technologies, designing the user interface, ensuring the application was responsive, and collaborating closely with backend developers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless functionality for new features. Throughout the project I also participated in code reviews, pair programming, and created and worked on issues on GitHub.

Open Energy Dashboard Software Contributor

The Open Energy Dashboard (OED) is a web application that provides a platform for organizations to manage, visualize and analyze their energy data. The application was built using a wide suite of different technologies. Its main technologies consists of React, Node.js, PostgreSQL. More information can be found on the official website.

As a Software Contributor to this project, I was responsible for developing a new feature that would allow administrators to create custom checks to ensure data integrity. This would allow administrators to automatically set limits for all meter data uploads and individual meters using an intuitive User Interface on 2 seperate pages of the application. This feature was developed mainly using React, TypeScript, Nodejs, and PostgreSQL. I also wrote an article on LinkedIn to share my experience of the feature on the project.

The feature was well-received by the community and was merged into the main branch of the project. I also received positive feedback from the project maintainer Professor Huss Lederman and my teammates for my work on this feature.

Selected for a highly-competitive Fellowship, providing personalized coaching from top-tier software engineers.

During this fellowship, I had the opportunity to receive one-on-one coaching and mentorship from experienced engineers at Netflix and other big tech companies, greatly improving my skills in data structures and algorithms and gaining invaluable insights into industry best practices and expectations.

Many people have asked me whether the program was worth it, and I can confidently say it absolutely was. The program provided invaluable learning experiences, and the community of talented individuals is always ready to help and support one another. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to enhance their skills and advance their career. A big shoutout to the Formation and Netflix teams for this incredible opportunity.
